The first appearance of Gambit was in issue #266 of The Uncanny X-Men, which was published by Marvel Comics in August 1990. Gambit was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Jim Lee, and was initially introduced as a mysterious thief with a Cajun accent who was working for Mr. Sinister. He was soon revealed to be a mutant with the ability to manipulate kinetic energy, which he used to charge objects with explosive power.
Gambit quickly became a fan favorite, due in part to his charming personality, as well as his unique costume and powers. He eventually joined the X-Men and played a major role in many storylines, including the "Age of Apocalypse" and "X-Tinction Agenda."
Over the years, Gambit has appeared in numerous comic book series, as well as video games, animated TV shows, and live-action films. He remains one of the most popular and enduring characters in the X-Men universe.
